Dahua VTNS2003B Two-wire switch
Dahua VTNS2003B-2 Two-wire switch
The VTNS2003B-2 is a switch for products from the new generation of Dahua Video Intercom products. The communication of this generation of video intercom products uses the SIP protocol. This protocol ensures a good speaking-listening connection and offers options for integration with third parties. The 2-wire technology simplifies installation and offers the possibility to connect multiple posts to one cable.
Pros:
- Multiple devices on one 2-wire connection: With this generation it is possible to connect multiple products in series via the "out" port. The switches can also be connected to each other via 2 wires. Each switch must be separately supplied with 48VDC.
- 2-wires for one system: Both the power supply for the indoor and outdoor stations and the data transmission go through the same cable. The posts can be aligned, making 2 wires sufficient for a working system.
- TCP-IP network protocol: Despite the 2-wire technology, the stations work like regular network products. This means that each post must have its own unique IP address. The major advantage of this is that posts connected to this 2-wire switch can be combined with the PoE products and the 2-wire products from the previous generation.
- Suitable for DMSS and DSS Pro: Because the 2-wire products are simply part of the network, they can also be used with the DMSS app or DSS Pro management software
Points of attention:
- Not suitable for all 2-wire products: This switch is not suitable for all Dahua 2-wire intercom products. Products from older generations are not supported by this switch
- Maximum 2 outposts per switch: A maximum of 2 VTO outposts can be connected per switch. If there are more outposts, they must be connected to the next switch. The switches can be linked together
- Maximum 2 extensions per VTH indoor unit: A maximum of 2 extra extensions can be added to a VTH indoor unit. If there are more than one, it is recommended to connect the VTH via a PoE switch.
- VTNS2003-B
- For 6 devices or less, a 48VDC power supply of 1.25A is sufficient
- For 6 to 22 devices, a 48VDC power supply of 5A is recommended.
Advice
- Recommended cabling:
- 4x0.5mm² with a maximum resistance of 4Ω per 100 meters. Maximum distance 50 meters
- 2x0.5mm² with a maximum resistance of 3.9Ω or less per 100 meters. Maximum distance 50 meters
- UTP Cat5e 0.45mm with a maximum resistance of 12Ω per 100 meters. The maximum distance with 6 VTH is 50 meters, with 12 VTH this is 30 meters.
- Lock control by external power supply: The power supply and control of locks and doors could in theory also be done from the switch. However, this can have a negative effect on the operation and mutual communication of the indoor and outdoor stations and is therefore not recommended.
